Wardrobe respray in Dublin
Give your old wardrobe a fresh new look with our wardrobe respray service. We can restore it to how it used to be or completely change its appearance. This is a great way to update your wardrobe without buying a new one.
A wardrobe respray is for furniture that still fits the room and works properly but no longer suits the way the bedroom looks. Fitted wardrobes, freestanding units, bedroom furniture and built in storage can all be considered. Keeping the existing furniture avoids dismantling a useful arrangement simply because the colour or surface feels dated.
The job begins with photos and an assessment of the doors, frames, panels and existing finish. We look at how the furniture is constructed, whether the doors fit correctly and whether the surface is sound enough to prepare. Limed oak, timber, MDF and previously painted surfaces can be resprayed when they are stable. Laminate, melamine, vinyl wrap and high gloss finishes need the correct bonding primer so the new coating grips properly.
A respray is not a repair for furniture that is swollen, badly broken or loose at its main joints. Small surface marks can be prepared, but structural damage needs to be dealt with first. The same applies where a wrap is failing across a door or where a panel no longer sits correctly. We assess those areas before the booking so the work is suitable for the furniture rather than covering a problem that will remain underneath.

From preparation to the finished room
Before the visit, remove clothing, shoes and personal items from every section that is included in the work. Clear the floor around the wardrobes and leave an open route into the room. Beds and other furniture should be moved far enough away to give access to the full face of the wardrobe. We then protect the floor, walls and everything that remains in the bedroom before any cleaning or sanding begins.
On the day, handles are removed where required and the surfaces are thoroughly degreased. Every face and edge is keyed so the primer has a consistent base. Chips and small dents are filled and sanded flat. The primer is chosen for the existing material, followed by even spray coats in the selected colour and sheen. Careful preparation matters on a wardrobe because broad doors and long panels catch the light. A smooth application keeps those areas even and free from brush marks.
Wardrobe work usually takes 1 to 2 days. The total time depends on the amount of furniture, the number of doors, the detail in the profiles and the condition of the old finish. Protection, preparation and curing between coats are part of that time. Once the finish is ready, the doors and handles are put back, their alignment is checked, the masking is removed and the bedroom is cleaned down.
Looking after resprayed wardrobes
The finish is designed for furniture, but gentle care is still the best approach. Use a soft damp cloth and mild detergent for marks. Avoid abrasive pads and strong cleaners, which can dull a painted surface. Wipe spills rather than allowing moisture to sit around edges, and avoid knocking doors while the coating continues to harden after the work is complete.
This service differs from a kitchen cabinet respray because the practical work is planned around a bedroom. Clothing must be moved, floors and nearby furniture need protection, and the finished colour has to work with softer furnishings as well as walls and flooring. It also differs from a kitchen upgrade, which can combine cabinet colour, worktops, handles and several visible parts of one kitchen.
Regular care also includes noticing how the doors are being used. Handles should be used rather than pulling on a painted edge, and anything stored inside should not press against a door as it closes. If a hinge begins to move, having it adjusted helps the doors meet cleanly and avoids unnecessary contact between freshly coated edges. These simple habits protect the preparation and finish that went into the wider wardrobe face.
Colour choice can be considered in the actual bedroom light before the work is booked. A long fitted wardrobe occupies a large part of the room, so its shade can feel different from a small sample. The existing walls, floor, curtains and other furniture all affect how the finished colour reads. The aim is not simply to cover the old surface, but to make a large piece of useful storage belong in the room again.
Is this the right service for you?
Wardrobe respraying suits a bedroom where the storage is useful, the doors are sound and the main problem is an old colour or finish. It works especially well for fitted furniture that would be disruptive to remove, or for a long run of doors that dominates the room. A new colour can make that storage feel considered with the rest of the bedroom without changing its layout.
If kitchen doors and frames are the only surfaces you want to change, choose a kitchen cabinet respray. If you want cabinets, worktops and customer supplied handles considered as one project, the kitchen upgrade service is the better place to start. Wardrobe work can also be included in the same booking when you send photos of both areas for assessment.
