End panels, plinths, cornices and pelmets are sprayed as part of every kitchen respray. Leaving them in the old colour is the single most obvious sign of a job done cheaply, because they sit directly beside freshly coated doors where any difference is unmissable.
Why they cannot be skipped
An end panel is often the largest single flat surface in a kitchen and sits at eye level at the end of a run. A plinth runs the whole length of the floor.
Fresh doors above an old plinth draws the eye straight to the plinth, which defeats the point of the work.
How fixed pieces are handled
Doors and drawer fronts come off and are sprayed off the unit. End panels, plinths and cornices are fixed, so they are masked carefully and sprayed in place.
That masking is a real part of the labour in a respray, and it is why the room is protected as thoroughly as it is.
