Matt, Satin or Gloss Kitchen Finish

How each one behaves after a year of real use.

Satin is the best all round choice for a kitchen respray: it reflects enough light to keep a room bright while hiding fingerprints far better than gloss. Matt suits deep colours and period kitchens. Gloss maximises light in a small dark room but shows every mark.

Matt

Matt reads as soft and expensive, particularly in deep colours like navy or a dark green, and it hides small surface imperfections better than anything else.

It is slightly less forgiving to clean around the highest wear points, so it suits kitchens that are not constantly under fingerprints.

Satin

Satin is what most of our customers choose. It wipes clean easily, keeps light moving around the room and does not show every handprint.

It also flatters shaker profiles, because the slight sheen picks out the beading without shouting.

Gloss

Gloss bounces the most light, which genuinely helps a small north facing kitchen feel larger.

The trade off is maintenance. Fingerprints, smears and scratches all show more than on any other finish.
