Is a Kitchen Respray Worth It?
When it makes sense, and when we tell people not to bother.
A kitchen respray is worth it when the units are structurally sound and only the colour or finish has dated, which covers most Dublin kitchens. For €700 to €3000 and 1 to 3 days you change every visible surface. It is not worth it where carcasses are water damaged or the layout itself is the problem.
The case for it
Doors, drawer fronts and end panels are the overwhelming majority of what your eye lands on in a kitchen. Change them and the room reads as new even though nothing has moved.
Because the work happens in place, there is no rip out, no skip, no weeks of takeaways and no making good afterwards.
When we say no
If a unit base has swollen from a slow leak, or hinge screws are spinning in soft chipboard, a finish sits on top of a problem that will only get worse. We say so rather than take the job.
The same applies where the real complaint is the layout. No colour fixes a worktop that is too small or a door that blocks the oven.
What people tell us afterwards
The two things that come up again and again in our reviews are how little disruption there was and how even the finish is compared to a brushed repaint.
The second is simply physics. Sprayed coatings lay down without brush marks, so light runs across the door evenly instead of catching on ridges.
